Zemismart Smart Home Devices:
Compatibility Guide for Home Assistant
Zemismart produces Zigbee curtain motors, wall switches, and sensors, with newer products using Matter over Thread. This guide maps device categories to protocols and integration paths so you can confirm compatibility before you order.

Zemismart Device Categories and Protocols
Zemismart offers devices across several categories. The protocol a device uses determines how — or whether — it connects to Home Assistant without a proprietary hub.
| Device category | Common protocol(s) | Home Assistant integration path |
|---|---|---|
| Curtain and blind motors | Zigbee | ZHA, Zigbee2MQTT |
| Roller shade drivers (newer) | Matter over Thread | Matter integration (built-in) |
| Wall switches and dimmers | Zigbee, Wi-Fi (Tuya) | Zigbee: ZHA/Z2M · Wi-Fi: Tuya Local (HACS) |
| Motion and contact sensors | Zigbee | ZHA, Zigbee2MQTT |
| Remote controls / scene switches | Zigbee | ZHA, Zigbee2MQTT |
| Zemismart Hub / gateway | Proprietary bridge | Direct integration preferred; Hub not required for HA |
Table note: Protocol support varies by model and firmware revision. Before purchasing, cross-check your specific model number in the Zigbee2MQTT supported devices list and the ZHA device registry.
How to Connect Zemismart Devices

Zigbee via ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT
Most Zemismart curtain motors, switches, and sensors communicate over Zigbee. In Home Assistant you can use the built-in ZHA (Zigbee Home Automation) integration or the widely supported Zigbee2MQTT add-on.
Both require a Zigbee USB coordinator or Ethernet/PoE coordinator attached to your Home Assistant host. Zigbee2MQTT typically offers broader device coverage and exposes more configuration options.
Matter over Thread
Newer Zemismart motorized blind products support Matter over Thread. Devices using Matter pair natively with Home Assistant's built-in Matter integration — no Zigbee coordinator is needed.
Your network needs a Thread border router. The Home Assistant Connect ZBT-2 provides both Zigbee and Thread functionality in one device.
Wi-Fi and Tuya
Some Zemismart wall switches use Tuya-based Wi-Fi. These can be integrated using the Tuya Local integration (HACS), which keeps communication local once provisioned. Cloud-dependent operation is also possible but adds a dependency on Tuya's servers.
Zemismart Hub
You do not need this hub for Zigbee or Matter devices to work with Home Assistant. The hub is only relevant if you want to use the Zemismart app alongside or instead of Home Assistant. Direct connection is the standard for HA power users.
Pre-Purchase Checklist: 5 Points to Verify
Check the protocol label
Confirm if the listing states Zigbee, Matter, or Wi-Fi/Tuya. The same product name often exists in multiple protocol variants — confirm yours.
Verify Model in Zigbee2MQTT/ZHA
Search the Zigbee2MQTT supported devices page or the ZHA device list for your exact model number before buying.
Confirm Thread Support
Matter over Thread requires a Thread border router. The Home Assistant Connect ZBT-2 is a recommended solution.
Zigbee Coordinator Ready
Zigbee devices need a coordinator. Ensure you have a USB Zigbee dongle or Ethernet coordinator set up before the device arrives.
Check Community Reports
Compatibility can depend on firmware. Search the Home Assistant community forum for your specific model to find known working configs.

Do Zemismart Zigbee devices work with Home Assistant?
Yes — Zemismart's Zigbee curtain motors, sensors, and many of their switches integrate through ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT. You need a Zigbee coordinator connected to your HA instance.
Do I need the Zemismart Hub to use their devices in Home Assistant?
No. Zigbee and Matter over Thread devices connect directly to your Home Assistant coordinator or border router. The hub is not required.
What is the difference between Zigbee and Matter products?
Zigbee products connect via a Zigbee coordinator. Matter over Thread products use the Thread protocol and integrate with HA's built-in Matter support. Both offer local control.
How do I avoid Wi-Fi interference?
Choose a Zigbee channel (11, 15, 20, or 25) that does not overlap with your Wi-Fi. Use our Overlap Checker for the best setting.
